What is a Laser Tattoo Removal?
Laser tattoo removal is a non-invasive procedure using lasers to break down pigment colors of tattoos on the skin with a high-intensity laser. The laser penetrates the skin & targets the ink. This allows it to break into smaller fragments, and they’re naturally removed by the body’s immune system. The result is clearer skin.
Black tattoo pigments absorb all laser wavelengths, which makes it the easiest pigment to treat. Other pigments can only be treated by select lasers based on pigment color.
Our clinic is equipped with a Q-switched Nd:YAG 1064/532 nm laser for tattoo removal. “Q-switched” means specific laser fires powerful but fast & short bursts of light to destroy ink particles on your skin, without damaging surrounding skin tissue. “Nd:YAG” refers to the crystal used for the laser, and this specific laser fires at 1064 or 532 nm. 1064 nm lasers target darker pigments like black, blue & green, while the 532 nm laser targets red & orange ink.
All in all, Q-switched Nd:YAG 1064/532 nm laser allows for tattoo removal for all colors, without damaging the surrounding skin tissue.
